Lead Line Cook
Sanctum Coffee & Wine Bar | Oxford, NC
Full-time preferred, part-time considered for the right person
Sanctum is looking for a steady, dependable cook who takes pride in clean prep, smooth service, and leaving the kitchen better than they found it.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys cooking, likes clear expectations, and wants to be part of a small, thoughtful kitchen where reliability matters. You do not need formal culinary training, but you do need to care about the work, communicate clearly, and follow through.
We think of this as a kitchen production and service cook role: part prep, part line, part kitchen reset, and part team support.
What You’ll Do
You’ll help our chef keep the kitchen organized, prepared, and ready for service. That includes basic prep, working the line, helping with brunch, lunch, dinner, bagels, catering, and events, and making sure each shift is handed off cleanly to the next.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Preparing ingredients and menu items from recipes, prep lists, and chef direction
- Working the line during service as needed
- Keeping your station clean, stocked, and organized
- Resetting the kitchen between shifts
- Communicating what needs to be prepped, restocked, or fixed
- Leaving clear notes for the next shift when needed
- Using slower periods for prep, cleaning, organizing, and setup
- Closing the kitchen thoroughly and cleanly
- Helping with catering and private event prep as the business grows
Who We’re Looking For
The right person is calm, reliable, and detail-oriented. You like lists. You like clean stations. You like knowing what needs to be done and getting it done well.
You might be a strong fit if you:
- Show up on time and communicate clearly
- Have basic knife skills or are willing to improve quickly
- Have some kitchen experience, even if you are still learning
- Can follow recipes, prep lists, and systems
- Stay productive without constant reminders
- Handle guest requests and changes professionally
- Take feedback well
- Care about cleanliness, organization, and consistency
- Notice what needs to be done and jump in to help
This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If You
- Need constant direction to stay busy
- Dislike prep, cleaning, labeling, or closing work
- Get frustrated by normal service changes or guest requests
- Prefer hanging out during slow periods instead of finding useful work
- Want a role focused mostly on creative menu development
Schedule
We are ideally looking for someone available around 35 to 40 hours per week, though part-time may be considered for the right candidate.
Availability for brunch, lunch, dinner, weekends, catering, and private events is helpful. The exact schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation
Pay will be based on experience and availability.
